With the arrival of dry weather, more of the shore is accessible.
The cattails and other marsh-loving plants are stiff and brown, their seeds ready for birds to spread far and wide.
Increased water clarity reveals the bottom of the pond. As expected, it’s very shallow surrounding the marsh, providing favorable conditions for cattails.
Near the cattail marsh, the Beaver Pond Trail zigzags between rows of now-barren paw paw trees. In the above photo, the marsh would off to the right.
On my return walk, I see a Caroline Chickadee hunting for insects in the bark of a tree . . . and catching a few.
Low-angle sun turns a few remaining rose leaves electric green in deepening shadows. It reminds that it’s late and time to go.
